Stalls will line the length of the street through the popular shopping destination all the way from Atherton Square to Wigan Market.

Mums and their families can browse a huge selection of handmade crafts and perfect gifts as well as enjoy homemade food and hot drinks.

There will also be live entertainment from Wigan Ukulele Club and youngsters can enjoy activities including traditional games and a mini-JCB track.

Saturday’s event will raise money for the Hindley-based hospice which provides palliative care to hundreds of residents at its Kildare Street headquarters and in their own homes.

The market will also provide a welcome boost to the coffers as WLH is currently raising £50,000 to help make the in-patient unit dementia-friendly through its Counting on Care appeal.

Maxine Armstrong, fund-raising and lottery manager at the hospice, said: “Mums deserve a treat on Mother’s Day but it can be hard to come up with inspiration and ideas. “The Mother’s Day Market will help you find the perfect gift and a percentage from the sales will go towards Wigan and Leigh Hospice, which we are very grateful for. Please do come on down and see what’s on offer.”

The market is this Saturday from 9am until 3pm.
