A LITTER pick proved that a Wigan community is glad to be greener.
The event – organised by Golborne Village Committee and residents – was so well attended it is now to become a monthly ritual.
Coun Yvonne Klieve said: “It was a huge success. The event was attended by local residents and their children all who thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“Volunteers collected more than 20 bags of rubbish from around Golborne Library, Queen Street, Tanners Lane, Peter Kane Square, Hazel Grove and Golborne car park. We would like to say a huge thank you to all residents and their children who helped on the day.”
Now plans are being made to repeat the exercise on March 16. This time volunteers should meet at the war memorial in Legh Street. Coun Stuart Keane said: “Following on from the success, we have now organised a litter pick to take place on the third Saturday of every month.”
