WIGANERS faced huge delays on the M6 earlier today after a lorry shed its load.

The lorry, carrying wooden pallets, was travelling along the southbound carriageway around junction 25 when it struck the central reservation barrier at around 10.30am - shedding its load across all six lanes of the two carriageways.

The driver was not seriously injured but the incident resulted in extensive damage to the safety barrier and the whole of the motorway being blocked for more than an hour.

The motorway has now fully reopened.
