MOTORISTS faced delays of over two hours because of emergency carriageway work on the M6.
Southbound traffic is still heavily congested from junction 20 right back to junction 24 in Ashton because of the repairs in Lymm.
It’s currently taking over 70 minutes hours to get through with the tailback in excess of 15 miles.
Motorists are advised to take alternative routes where possible.
Earlier this morning, traffic was stretched back beyond junction 27 in Standish with it taking more than two hours to travel 20 miles.
