The youngster is currently battling cancer for the third time and is undergoing rigorous, energy-sapping treatment.

Diagnosed with neuroblastoma for the first time when he was aged just two, Braiden has spent much of his short life fighting the disease.

He had been in remission but the cancer returned at the end of last year.

As part of his treatment, he has travelled to America for immunotherapy.

However, Braiden’s parents Steph and Wayne have now been dealt the devastating blow that there is no further treatment available for their son.

He’s recently spent six days at the Christie and has just finished his first round of Mibg therapy as well as undergoing chemotherapy once again.

The nature of Mibg therapy means he is injected with a high dose of radioactive medication, meaning he had to be secluded in a lead lined room for days on end.

Thankfully, Braiden has since returned home to his parents and brothers Tyler and Kody.

Family and friends are now rallying round the youngster and his family, to give young Braiden the a birthday party to remember on August 7.

Mindy Johnstone is heading up the organising of the event and has already been blown away by the amount of support received.

She said: “We’re holding it between 2pm and 6pm at Whelley Labour club. “There’s still things I want for the big day; we want balloons to release and also a couple of doves too so if anyone can help we’re asking for them to get in touch.

“We want to give him the most amazing day. He knows we are planning something but he doesn’t know how special it is going to be.

“We want as many people as possible to come and celebrate and also to send him cards too.

“Braiden loves receiving cards and well wishes. We’ve already been amazed by the response from that.”

One other way that Mindy wants to help the Prescott family is by fund-raising to help them with their home.

Any money raised through raffles and other fund-raising on the day will go towards that and she is also appealing to any local tradesmen to help if they can.

Mindy added: “I would love more than anything to do the house up for them. When you go into their life for just five minutes, you realise what they have to go through 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“Braiden needs constant care and then there is Tyler and Kody to care for. They are an amazing family.

“Steph has ME too so they have so much to deal with. I just want to help in any way I can and if we can make their home a nicer place, then I’d be really happy. For me, I just want to make their lives more simple.”

Birthday cards can be sent to Braiden at 46 The Grove, Ince, Wigan, WN2 2BE.

Mindy also has a GoFundMe page at www.gofundme.com/29dp8yqs where donations can be made. She can be contacted on 07487 795149 with any offers of help.
