Man airlifted to hospital as three car smash closes road


A 23-year-old man was airlifted to hospital with ‘serious injuries’ following a three car collision in Orrell.

The B5206 Moor Road was closed by police for several hours following the incident which happened shortly after midday on Friday. A black Citroen, a Nissan Qashqai and a Vauxhall Astra collided between the Sefton Road junction and Orrell Post.

The Citroen driver was taken to hospital by the North West Air Ambulance.

The two men in the Nissan were trapped and cut free by the firemen.

They were both taken to hospital but their injuries were said not to be life threatening.
