A MAN has been charged with dangerous driving after allegedly driving at a police officer.
The officer was trying to arrest a man on suspicion of fraud in Wigan town centre on September 1 when he fled, driving at an officer and reversing the wrong way down a one way street, causing people to jump out of the way.
Malachi Doherty, 32, has been charged in relation to the incident following a police pursuit on Monday involving the road policing unit and the force helicopter.
He has been charged with two offences of dangerous driving, two offences of driving whilst disqualified, two of driving without insurance and one offence of assault on a uniformed police officer.
GMP has also charged Malachi Doherty with the following offences on behalf of Devon and Cornwall Police; dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, and driving with no insurance.
Doherty, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.
