Man found with severe head injury identified

A man who is in critical condition in Wigan has now been identified.

At 1.25am yesterday (Wednesday) a 39-year-old man was found collapsed on the pavement opposite Kwikfit on Wallgate, by two members of the public who contacted the emergency services.

The man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a serious head injury, and remains in life-threatening condition.

Police believe the man may have been assaulted and are appealing for the public’s help establish the circumstances surrounding his injuries.

Detective Inspector Martin Reddington of Wigan division said: “We have now identified the man and informed his family, and I would like to thank the public for their help.

“We are still working to establish what happened to him, but we do believe that he was assaulted and I would urge anyone who saw what happened or has any information to contact police.”
