A 32-year-old man has admitted falsely imprisoning a woman in Wigan.

David Williamson had been due to face trial accused of that offence and also kidnapping her and driving dangerously.

But after he pleaded guilty to the false imprisonment charge and careless driving, Liverpool Crown Court heard that the other charges will be dropped.

Williamson, formerly of Horwich, pleaded guilty to falsely imprisoning Shanice Ingham on January 8 this year and driving a Nissan Navara carelessly on the same date along Central Park Way, Riverway, Wigan and the M6.

Williamson, of The Green, Eccleston, Chorley, was further remanded on bail to await sentence on May 27.
