A MAN has been jailed for drugs offences in Manchester.
Rikki Srao (09/12/79) of Windsor Road, Newton Heath, pleaded guilty Class A drugs with intent to supply at an earlier hearing.
Today, Wednesday 3 June 2015 he was sentenced to 31 months in prison at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square.
On Wednesday 8 April 2015 police signalled to Srao to pull over after he was seen speeding on the Mancunian Way in Manchester, but before he stopped he threw a bag of white powder out of the window.
When one of the officers went back to see what had been thrown, he found a small plastic bag containing an ounce of high purity cocaine.
Suspecting the powder to be class A drugs Srao was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs. Srao then tried dismantle a Samsung mobile phone which he was holding; removing the battery and dropping the SIM card on the pavement. Both of these were recovered along with £1,600 cash from his front trouser pocket.
Further cocaine was recovered at his home address in a later search.
Detective Constable Adam Cronshaw of Challenger Manchester - North said: “Srao operated in the upper tiers of the drug dealing world and must now accept the consequences. I hope this sentence provides him with plenty time to reflect on his life choices.
“Drugs damage our communities, however another drug dealer has been taken off our streets and is now behind bars.
