A MAN sustained a suspected broken nose after he was robbed in Hindley.

It happened on Liverpool Road at about midnight on July 7.

The 37-year-old man was walking along the road in the direction of Platt Bridge when he was stopped by two men who asked him for cigarettes.

After informing them he did not smoke and had none, one of the men grabbed him by the shoulders and pulled him to the ground.

While on the floor, the man was kicked and punched in the head and body, leaving him with a suspected broken nose, two black eyes, bruises and cuts.

As he was assaulting the man the offender demanded his mobile phone and wallet, and rifled through his pockets to steal both items.

The pair then ran off along Liverpool Road towards Hindley, crossing the junction with Atherton Road and onto Market Street.

Police are now appealing to anyone who has information to come forward.
