PUPILS are being warned to be careful after a man has been spotted taking photos near a Wigan school.
A man was spotted holding a mobile phone through the school railings and filming students at Standish Community High School at lunchtime today (Friday).
The man was described as aged around 30, between 5ft8 and 5ft11 tall, with dark hair. He was wearing a blue t-shirt, grey jacket and jeans.
The matter has been reported to the police but no arrests were made.
Jonathan Miller, deputy headteacher at the school said: “There was an incident where a man may have had his phone out within the proximity of our school during lunchtime when pupils were out.
“The school-based police officer informed staff and we went out to speak to the man and police were informed.
“A text alert was sent to all parents of the school. We are very stranger danger aware and we are constantly vigilant and sensitive to these situations. If anyone is seen acting suspiciously it is reported to the police.
“We urge all students to stay safe by remaining in groups on their way home from school and to report any suspicious behaviour immediately.”
