A WIGAN man threatened to kill his sister and destroyed a door with an axe following a family row.

Paul Lewis Dennett, of Briar Road, Worsley Hall, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared at Wigan Magistrates’ Court.

Steve Woodman, prosecuting, told magistrates that on April 22, Dennett had an argument with his sister at the family home in Bradshaw Street, Orrell.

He was told to leave by his mother and in doing so, he threw items of furniture around. He then went to the rear of the house, picked up an axe and smashed the back door, while threatening to harm his sister.

Mr Woodman said: “Anger overtook him and he started to smash things up. His mother has had enough of him and does not want him attending the address again.”

Dennett, who represented himself, said: “They kick off at me and so I kicked off back. I did it to scare them. I would never harm my sister.”

Dennett was given a six-month community and restraining order and told to pay £245 costs and compensation.
