A MAN will face trial after being accused of abusing his family, allegedly for more than 20 years.
Gary Ashcroft of Liverpool Road, Hindley, has pleaded not guilty to the charge of using threatening and abusive words intending to cause fear of violence at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that on November 3 Ashcroft allegedly began banging on the home of his family in Platt Bridge and shouting threats through the letterbox .
In a statement read out by Katie Beattie, prosecuting, the defendant is alleged to have behaved in a similar manner towards his family for around 20 years.
Ashcroft will return to the Magistrates’ Court on February 27 2015 at 9.45am.
Until then the 39-year-old has been released on conditional bail providing he doesn’t have any contact with John, May or Gemma Ashcroft.
