Men charged in armed bank raids investigation

A man from the borough is among five people charged in an investigation into armed robberies at banks across Greater Manchester.

Police executed warrants at properties in Leigh and Little Hulton on Thursday as part of their probe into the incidents.

Thomas Keane, 52, of Green Lane, Leigh, has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, along with Jack Pennington, 28, of Carrfield Avenue, Little Hulton; Lucas Dodd, 18, of Dovecote Lane, Little Hulton; David Oxton, 33, of Longshaw Lane, Little Hulton; and Robert White, 28, of HMP Forest Bank. They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Manchester And Salford Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.

A 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery has been released under investigation.
