Midwife wins £1million on lottery

CHAMPAGNE corks were flying at the DW Stadium as a Wigan midwife celebrated scooping £1m in the EuroMillions lottery.

Warriors fan Ruth Breen joined the millionaire’s club last week and said she couldn’t believe her eyes when she found out the good news by email.

The 35-year-old told the Evening Post she would carry on working at Wigan Infirmary but would treat herself to a new pair of shoes and a Warriors season ticket next season.

Ruth, who lives in Poolstock with 11-year-old daughter Lucy, said: “I was just checking my emails on my lunch break in the office when I spotted one from the National Lottery telling me that I had some news about my ticket.

“I didn’t think much of it as I have won a few pounds here and there - in fact, I won £25 a few weeks ago, which I was delighted with.

“When I logged into my account, I couldn’t believe my eyes.

“I’m a big fan of Wigan Warriors and have been to several games so to have my own season ticket will be fantastic.”
