A YOUNG motorcyclist has died after a collision with a car in Wigan.
The crash took place at Larch Avenue’s junction with Claude Street in Pemberton shortly after 9pm on Thursday.
Officers from GMP found a Ford Focus was travelling on Claude Street when it collided with a Suzuki GSXR 750 motorcycle at the junction with Larch Avenue.
The 25-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to hospital where he died.
The 35-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.
Larch Avenue and Claude Street were closed while emergency services dealt with the scene and police also blocked off Bulteel Street at its junction with Ormskirk Road for around 40 minutes.
PC Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I would like to extend my sincere condolences to the family of the man who tragically died as a result of this collision. We have specially trained officers supporting them at this distressing time.
“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with information about the incident to come forward and speak to police.”
