Motorcylist dies following collision

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist died in a traffic collision in Standish yesterday.

At about 6pm on Saturday August 24, the male biker was on his white Honda machine when it collided with a coach on Chorley Road, close to Kilhey Court.

He suffered extensive injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The man has now been formally identified as Anthony Unsworth, 47, from Wigan.

Officers from GMP⿿’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Hailwood said: “Our thoughts are with Anthony’s family, who have understandably been left devastated following the death of their relative.

“We have officers supporting them as best we can at this difficult time and are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full facts around what happened.
