MP wants talking buses

BUSES and coaches should have audible and visual ‘stop’ and ‘final destination’ announcing, insists Makerfield’s MP.

She has pledged her support to a campaign aimed at making bus travel easier and safer for blind and partially sighted passengers, plus other sensory impaired people, at an event organised by the charity Guide Dogs Talking Buses.

Yvonne Fovargue said: “A lack of information undermines the confidence and independence of vulnerable people who rely on buses to get around. Blind and partially sighted people cannot see where they are, and may not easily be able to identify their bus stop and may miss it altogether.”
