Mum's warning after attempted kidnap of her schoolgirl daughter

The 12-year-old was walking home from school along Lincoln Drive, Aspull, on Wednesday afternoon when a car pulled up alongside her.

She told police that the passenger door opened and she was grabbed by the left elbow and right side of the waist and an attempt was made to pull her into the vehicle.

But she put up a struggle and managed to break free and run away.

Her mother took to social media to warn other children and their families. She wrote: “Please can you make sure that your kids don’t walk alone.

“Today (Wednesday) at about 4pm in Aspull on the corner of Lincoln Drive and Windsor Crescent a white, tallish male with dark hair and stubble wearing light clothes, got out of a small white car with a roofrack on, from the passenger door (as they had parked close to the garden hedges next to the path so she had to walk on the road around the car).

“As my 12-year-old was walking past the door he opened the passenger door and grabbed my daughter from behind by her arm and her waist.

“Luckily she managed to hit him between the legs with her free hand and ran home, arriving home very upset and distressed.

“If anyone did see the car or anyone please let the police know. Please be aware!”

Police confirmed that they had received reports of an attempted abduction in Lincoln Drive at around 5pm on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman said that inquiries were ongoing and that the car may have been a small hatchback.
