Music night for charity

A CHARITY is £3,700 the richer after a fund-raising night of music in memory of a Wigan champion of the arts.

The cash was donated by the Wigan Music Theatre Group to the Sheffield Institute Foundation for Motor Neurone Disease – the illness that claimed the group’s former chairman Brian Rignall.

It was raised by a gala evening of hits from the musicals, which included performances by the tenor Kim Begley and Elizabeth Collier at Wigan Little Theatre. Foundation patron Sarah Dunn told group members about its work, especially with the university and hospital in Sheffield.
