POLICE are hunting masked robbers who threatened shop staff with a metal bar.

It happened at about 10.45pm on Saturday August 9, when four masked men entered the McColls shop on Fleet Street, Pemberton.

They threatened staff with an eight-inch long metal bar and stole a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

They then ran over the road towards Queen Street where they got into a getaway car. The car was described as either a blue Subaru or an MG.

All four offenders wore face masks.

Detective Constable Andrew Hill, based at Wigan, said: “Thankfully no-one in the shop at the time was injured, but of course they were left deeply upset by what happened.

“The robbers appeared to have some kind of gateway vehicle waiting so we would really like to hear from anyone who saw a car, possibly a blue Subaru or MG, drive off from the area at about 10.45pm.

“Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5307 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
