SO it’s official: Wigan is the safest place in which to live in Greater Manchester.
Latest statistics show that there are fewer crimes committed on L division (our borough) than anywhere else in the GMP force area.
And the crime figures are continuing to tumble year after year, despite doom-laden predictions of a reverse during the recession.
This is all good news and congratulations are due to our local police and their partners such as Wigan Council and voluntary groups who not only put a lot of work into crime prevention (and in the bobbies’ case that means tough measures), but also through keeping young people in particular with fun and profitable activities during their spare time.
Let’s hope the trend continues.
