CORRECT me if I’m wrong, but should the Warriors safely negotiate the next 80 minutes of Challenge Cup rugby, Wigan would become the first town in history to take sporting fans to a Wembley showdown four times in a year.
Granted, there aren’t that many times the FA Cup semis have been held at the national stadium as well as the final.
But even without that double, it would make for a startling achievement and huge feather in Wigan’s cap.
We shouldn’t count our chickens of course, but the local coach firms will already be rubbing their hands at the prospect of the Latics’ Charity Shield clash with Man United.
And after the Warriors’ magnificent performance against Widnes on Monday there aren’t that many folk betting against their overwhelming London Broncos later this month and signalling another Wigan exodus to the capital.
