CHARLES GRAHAM - TV doldrums gives pubs festive boost?

OUR pubs and clubs may be in the doldrums at the moment but I’d like to guess they enjoyed a decent Christmas and new year boost.

Not only because of the usual festive excess, but also because there was so little worth watching on TV! Maybe I just tuned in at the wrong time, but the dramas I saw weren’t dramatic and the comedies unfunny.

And no matter when I switched on I was confronted by Miranda Hart (OK sitcom but unscripted nowt special) and the never amusing Jonathan Ross.

Even that usually reliable highlight The Big Fat Quiz of the Year was feeble and puerile. No prizes for guessing two of its stars.
