COMMENT - Good health

IT is not often someone whose regular work includes visiting Downing Street to advise on policy comes to Wigan.

However, that was exactly the case when Duncan Selbie, the chief executive designate of Public Health England, came to visit the borough’s first young health champions and meet the region’s health authorities.

The new champions will spread a simple but effective message about wellbeing and lifestyle.

It is good to see such a pro-active approach being taken to addressing Wigan’s long-term health issues, and that work in the borough is attracting national interest.
