MIDFIELDER David Perkins has signed a one-year extension to his Wigan Athletic contract.
The 33-year-old penned a 12-month deal with Latics over the summer following his release by Blackpool.
And after a hugely-impressive start to his career at the DW Stadium, he has been rewarded by boss Gary Caldwell.
“He’s the sort of player that every team needs,” said Caldwell.
“There are no airs and graces – he just gets on with his job, day in day out, and gives us great consistency.”
Perkins, who was Caldwell’s first signing of the summer, has been an ever-present in the league since joining Latics.
Meanwhile, striker Will Grigg and defender Donald Love will miss the trip to Rochdale on Saturday, November 14 after being called up by Northern Ireland and Scotland Under-21s respectively.
Clubs require a minimum of three international players to be called up before they are able to postpone fixtures, meaning an additional selection headache ahead of the trip to Spotland.
