POLICE in Wigan are appealing for witnesses after FIVE paint ball attacks in one day.

At around 3pm last Wednesday, two people were walking on Lord Street, Leigh, when they were approached by two men driving what is believed to have been a black Honda Civic.

They shouted abuse at the two people before one of them fired a paint ball pellet into the stomach of one of the victims and drove off.

Shortly after the first incident, a 38-year-old woman was walking on Heywood Avenue, Golborne when she felt a blow to her back. She felt her back and discovered a coloured substance, similar to that of a paint ball pellet on her hand. A black car was seen driving away after the incident.

Later that day, a further three incidents were reported.

A bus driver was shot at as he drove his vehicle down High Street, Golborne. He was hit with a pellet as he approached a bus stop. The paint exploded onto the bus windscreen, causing the driver to stop.

A 19-year-old man was shot at on the same street near to the Pentecostal Church and two boys walking along Lowton Road were also targeted.

A 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence and bailed pending further inquiries.
