POLICE are trying to trace four men after a rail passenger was subjected to a tirade of foul abuse on a Wigan train.
The incident happened on Friday March 29 between 6.35pm and 7.05pm as the victim, a 21-year-old woman, travelled on board the Northern Rail service from Wigan North Western and St Helens Central.
Officers from the British Transport Police today issued CCTV images of four men who they want to interview with regard to the verbal attack.
PC Ray Skelly said: “A group of men boarded the service at Wigan North Western and, shortly after getting on the train, began to make lewd comments towards the victim.
“The group continued to make inappropriate comments to the woman throughout the journey, making her feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated.” When the train arrived at St Helens the men left the service with one of the group exposing himself whilst at the station.
PC Skelly said: “The behaviour of the group was completely unacceptable and frightened a vulnerable rail passenger.”
