An elderly man has sustained serious injuries after being hit by a lorry.

The 80-year-old man was airlifted to hospital after the incident at around 4pm today, Friday, on Fleet Street in Pemberton.

His injuries are described as serious but not life threatening.

Several roads around Fleet Street have been closed and diversions are in place.

Fire crews were called to the scene to reports the man was stuck under the lorry but he was free on their arrival.
