Billy Livesley memorial rugby match: Friends and team mates take to the pitch in his honour

Friends and team mates proved the memory of a popular sportsman lives on when they took to the rugby pitch in his honour.

Ince Rose Bridge Rugby Club’s 2015 National Youth Cup-winning team played Spring View ARLFC on Saturday in a testimonial match for 21-year-old Billy Livesley.

He was a former player for Rose Bridge and members of both sides took part in a round of applause before the match kicked off.

Cheering on the teams was Billy’s mother Sylvia Mitchell and his son Billy Junior, who was born in August.

The fund-raiser included a match between Rose Bridge and Shevington Sharks.

Billy, from Platt Bridge, died on December 29, 2018 after being attacked on a car park on Bickershaw Lane, Abram, the night before.

David Connors, 26, of Leighton Street Caravan Park, on Leighton Street, Preston, was given a life sentence for his murder .

and must serve at least 17 years.
