He said: “The virtual lesson was really good, the kids engaged well asking us questions and I really enjoyed it too.

“I think it’s very important to keep the pupils engaged, as it gives them a bit of structure especially during these times and also keeps them motivated and focussed as well.”

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Community Trust have been delivering virtual lessons from home, with topics including Maths, English and a number of PSHE subjects.

Georgia Cunningham, Year 6 Teacher at Our Lady’s said: “The virtual session was great. The children have really understood what leadership is about.

“You could see how excited they were to speak to the players and ask them questions and having the opportunity to speak to the players was hugely invaluable for them.”

The virtual offer is open to all primary schools and is delivered free of charge. With limited capacity, schools are urged to book early to avoid disappointment.

Alongside a virtual offer, some staff are still delivering high quality PE to selected primary schools for youngsters who remain in school.
