Jennifer West was crowned as the champion of MTV’s The Challenge: Total Madness, which tests participants both physically and mentally.

She has revealed she will use her money to buy a home.

Jennifer, who lives in Winstanley, said: “I have offered on a house this week which was accepted. I have chosen a house which needs a lot of work doing to it.

“I have always been interested in transforming properties and I loved watching house shows when I was younger. I love the idea of taking something that’s rundown and throwing some money and love at it.”

Jennifer grew up in Stoke-on-Trent and moved to Wigan eight years ago.

“I don’t think I will ever leave. I love it here,” she said. “I feel like since I have come to Wigan, my life has come together.”

Jennifer was a membership advisor at Total Fitness while qualifying as a personal trainer and then got to work supporting her clients.

She continues to help other people, mostly online.

She has become an inspirational figure in health and fitness as part of the West Twins, with sister Lucy, and they have thousands of followers on social media.

Jennifer was part of the winning team in ITV reality show Survival of the Fittest in 2018 and has now been in two seasons of The Challenge.

The show sees a group of strangers living together in an isolated location for two months, taking on tough challenges and eliminations.

She said: “It was a big opportunity that came to me. The first season I did was in Thailand so it was lovely and warm weather and you are never cold.

“I didn’t make the final but I remember thinking I would love my future grandchildren to have footage of me doing something really cool and crazy and saying that’s what their nan did.”

The final saw the participants travel to Austria for two days, where they faced freezing conditions and were deprived of both sleep and food.

Jennifer was delighted to come out as the winner.

She said: “I swore at the person who said I had won. It was a big shock. It was six months ago now but has only just aired, so it’s now sinking in a bit.”

The Challenge: Total Madness is shown on MTV in the UK at 11pm on Tuesdays.
