Mike Parker, who set up the fund-raising page and is a member and coach at the club based on Wingates Road, said: “Covid-19 brought a six-month halt to income at this historic community club stalling our essential club maintenance programme.

“As we move beyond our initial target we are fully aware that the cost of resurfacing the road will be significantly higher than £10,000. In addition the club have a long list of improvements that we are looking to deliver without any income to cover these

costs.

“Your continued support to take us towards our stretch target will allow the club to continue to develop and prosper.”

He said the club aimed to offer access for those with disabilities, to establish female rugby and continue to grow the mini and junior section which requires playing kits and training equipment.

He said: “Furthermore we want to increase our offer to non-playing members, opening our facilities for free to schools and community groups and to do this we need investment in the development and maintenance of our outdoor and indoor spaces, in particular the completion of the new changing cabins with step access and

matting.”

He went on to encourage people to donate money to help the club.

He added: “Your support will ensure that, despite our lack of income, we can continue to develop the club, and get it ready for a hopeful return to rugby. So please make a pledge and pass it on to friends and family.”
