Hayley, who is studying theatre and performance practice at Salford University, was discussing with a friend ways of saying thanks to those on the front line during the pandemic and also raising awareness of the cultural industry which has faced near-total shutdown due to Covid-19.

The idea for the video then began to take shape, with people Hayley knew from university as well as from her time at The Deanery High School and Sixth Form College all getting on board and other creative talents becoming involved as well.

The video has now been put online with links to NHS Charities Together and two funds raising money for the theatre and entertainment industry.

Hayley, 19, said: “I was speaking to my friend about the coronavirus and making an awareness video for the NHS as well as raising some money for the theatres and actors.

“I think the key workers are doing an amazing job. I don’t think I would have the strength and courage to do what they are doing every day.

“The theatre industry has also taken a massive hit, and that’s something I want to go into. Theatres have been closed and actors have basically got no income.”

As well as the singers the video also features friends and family members who Hayley asked to record messages thanking the health service.

Hayley’s friend Charlotte Jeacock then edited the video while her college drama teacher Rachel Johnson got the musical aspect of it into its final form.

Hayley, who is currently keeping her options open for a career in the performing arts but is particularly interested in teaching or drama therapy, says the feedback from the video has been very positive.

Some of the responses have asked if the team would use their vocal talents again and Hayley said she is thinking of doing something in support of Black Lives Matter following the recent protests against racial injustice and prejudice.
