COUPLES across the North West will now be able to come to Wigan to receive treatment and support in achieving their dream of having a baby.
Wigan Infirmary has this week announced the opening of its brand new fertility unit, which is based at the Wrightington Hospital site.
The fertility centre, named the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Hewitt Fertility Partnership, is the result of a collaboration with The Hewitt Fertility Centre which is part of Liverpool Women’s hospital.
The unit, which offers both NHS and private services, will provide patients with access to state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment facilities ran by a team of experienced fertility specialists.
Mr Phil Harris, Consultant Gynaecologist and Clinical Lead for the Unit, said: “We are thrilled with our new purpose built accommodation and our patients can expect the highest standards of care and support at every stage of their treatment.
“Each patient will have their own unique journey with us and we offer a highly personalised service which suits each patient’s needs.
“Where possible on-line clinical assessments and one-stop clinics will be maintained and developed, to ensure the upmost ease and convenience for patients.”
The unit combines elements of each partner’s existing services, which are both independently very successful.
Patients from across the region will benefit from the very latest in assisted conception technology.
