DETECTIVES are appealing for information after two men burgled a pensioner’s home in Appley Bridge.

Between 1.30pm and 2pm on Monday, November 30, two males approached a property in Appley Lane North.

The pair entered the address, pushing past a 71-year-old man before searching the property.

The homeowner tried to ring police for help but one of the offenders snatched the phone from his hand.

A small amount of cash was stolen before the men left the property.

The first man is described as white, aged 25 to 30, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build wearing a dark woollen hat and dark clothing. The second male is white, aged 20 to 25, 5ft 6in tall, of medium build wearing dark clothing.

Det Sgt Janette Bashall of Skelmersdale Police said: “This was a shameful incident in which an elderly man was targeted inside his home.

“Thankfully the occupant was not injured.

“An investigation is ongoing and if anyone has any information in relation to this offence we would urge them to contact police immediately.”
