Police appeal for information after motorcyclist dies in Wigan crash

Police are appealing to the public for information after a motorcyclist died in Wigan on Saturday.

Shortly after 11am, a Honda CRF250 motorbike collided with a metal barrier on Bryn Gates Lane in the Bamfurlong area.

Emergency services attended the scene but the rider of the bike – a 20-year-old man – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Officers are appealing for anyone with further information to contact them.

Sergeant Matt Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has so sadly passed away. Our specialist officers are supporting them at this terrible time.

“Our focus is on ensuring we discern the full circumstances surrounding this collision and to do so we need to make sure we speak to any witnesses or people who may have dashcam footage around the area at the time of incident.”
