Police appeal for witnesses after motorbike rider is seriously injured

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition in hospital after a serious crash.

His Yamaha motorbike was in a collision with a red Vauxhall Zafira at around 9.15pm on Friday on Westleigh Lane, at the junction with Abbey Lane, in Westleigh.

The man, who is in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Vauxhall remained at the scene to speak with police officers.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.

PC Stephen Bielizna, of Greater Manchester Police's specialist operations, said: “A man has been left in hospital with serious injuries and while our thoughts remain with him as he receives treatment, we are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this collision.

“We believe a number of people may have witnessed this incident and I would urge them to come forward with any information, dash-cam footage or images they have.”
