It was initially suggested in a police report that the unnamed girl was a pedestrian but a relative contested the online report of the accident, saying that she was a passenger in one of the vehicles.

Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed that the girl was indeed a passenger and continue to appeal for any witnesses to the crash, and any motorists with dashcam footage, to get in touch.

No arrests have been made.

Anybody with information should contact police on 0161 856 4755 quoting incident number 00940 of 13/10/2019, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.

No details have been given of the vehicles involved, their other occupants nor the victim’s current condition.

After appealing for people who had helped at the scene to come forward, the family member declined to comment further on the incident.
