The 12-year-old suffered a serious head injury in the collision involving two cars which took place at 7.30am on Sunday October 13 on Atherton Road, Hindley.

Officers sealed off the main route and traffic was diverted as the victim was treated, the scene was cleared and investigations got under way.

It was initially suggested in a police report that the unnamed girl was a pedestrian but a relative contested the online report of the accident, saying that she was a passenger in one of the vehicles.
