POLICE are appealing for the public’s help in tracing the owners of stolen property in Wigan.
At about 3am on Friday a man was stopped by police on Shevington Lane in Shevington, carrying numerous bags containing tools and a pair of trainers.
The 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been bailed pending further enquires.
It is believed the items may have been stolen from a garage, shed or car and police are now trying to trace the owners.
Police are appealing for anyone to come forward if they believe they may have been a victim of burglary in Shevington or Standish areas.
Detective Constable John O’Donnell of Wigan division said: “There may be people who have been a victim of a burglary recently but didn’t contact the police. If you’ve had a break-in recently in the Shevington or Standish areas, I would urge you to contact police.”
Anybody with information should call the police on 0161 856 7124 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
