POLICE are appealing for information after a robbery at a cash machine in Wigan.

The 62-year-old victim was withdrawing money from the machine at Morrissons on Makerfield Way, Higher Ince, on Wednesday at around 10.50am, when a man approached her from behind.

The man grabbed her purse and money before he ran off towards an area known as The Rabbit Rocks.

He is described as being white, in his 20s, with short shaved dark hair and of average height and build. He wore dark coloured trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms and a short sleeved t-shirt.

Detective Sergeant Nigel Rigby said: “The man caught the victim completely unawares and went for her purse and money. He grabbed her with such force that she span around before he ran off.

“The victim is very upset at what happened and is frightened to go out alone.”
