POLICE are hunting thieves who stole a BMW from outside a Wigan house before crashing it onto a tree.

Between 10pm on Monday and 12.40am on Tuesday, burglars used a bolt-cutter to force open the back door of a house on St Patrick’s Way, Scholes.

They stole a set of car keys and a bottle of whisky before leaving and breaking into an outhouse. They didn’t steal anything and left the premises.

The offender then stole a green BMW 330 parked outside. The car was later recovered after it crashed into a tree and railings on Warrington Road, Ince.

A man was seen to run from the scene of the collision towards Banner Street. He was described as white, in his mid 20s, about 5ft 8in tall with shaven dark brown hair and wearing a dark tracksuit top.
