DETECTIVES are hunting a man who stole three rings from a Wigan jeweller’s in broad daylight.

At around 2.30pm on Tuesday, February 4, the man walked into the shop on Preston Road, Standish, and stole three rings to the value of £6000.

He tried on several rings before running towards an open cabinet display, where he grabbed three rings and ran out of the shop towards Standish High Street.

The offender is described as white, of slim build, around 6ft tall and in his late 20s. He has short, dark hair and was wearing blue jeans and a grey hooded top with brown elbow patches.

Detective Sergeant Graham Clare from Wigan division said: “This man had the audacity to walk into a jeweller’s in broad daylight, pretending to be a customer, and then made off with £6000 worth of jewellery.

“We have released CCTV footage of the suspect and I would ask anyone who recognises him or may have been offered jewellery under suspicious circumstances to contact police.”
