Police renew appeal for missing man

POLICE are once again appealing for the public's help to trace a 46-year-old man from Northern Ireland who has been missing in Wigan for a week.

Mervyn Craig, 46, is insulin dependent, has recently moved to the Wigan area from Northern Ireland, and his family are concerned he has not been administering the insulin to himself correctly.

He was last seen at the Arnold Clark Motorstore on Wallgate, Wigan, at around 8pm on Monday 8 February 2016.

He is described as white, around 6ft tall, bald, with a strong Irish accent. He was last seen wearing a light grey ‘Tapout’ t-shirt with dark jeans.

Detective Inspector Martin Reddington said: “Mervyn has now been missing for a week and we are growing more and more concerned for his welfare with each passing day.

“We have utilised significant resources to find him, including response and INPT officers, PCSOs, TAU and even the underwater search team.

“We are working closely with local businesses and keeping in close contact with Mervyn’s family in the hope of locating him, but the public can play their part in finding him safe and well, too.

“If you see Mervyn, please contact police as his family are extremely worried about him.”

Anyone with information about Mervyn’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
