Police search for man after hammer thrown at house window

Police are investigating after a hammer was thrown at a house window and paint poured on a car.

They were called to Malham Close in Leigh at around 2.30am on Thursday to reports of criminal damage.

An investigation is under way and police have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

Det Sgt Neil Lawless, from Greater Manchester Police's Wigan borough, said: “I appreciate that this incident happened on a quiet residential street in the middle of the night but I would still urge anyone that saw anything suspicious in the area to please contact police.

“We are treating this as a targeted attack and are working to piece together the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

“We have released a CCTV image of a man we would like to speak to in connection with this attack and would appeal directly to him to get in touch with us.”
