This is when you can expect to receive benefits and tax credits during Christmas and New Year dates.

Benefits claimants who are due to be paid on Christmas Day will not have their payment delayed.

Those due to get their money on bank holidays during the festivities will instead receive their payment earlier, according to dates set by the Government.

However the exact date depends on the type of benefits people receive.

Christmas payments 2018: This is when child benefit, Universal Credit, tax credits and more will be paid

People expecting Jobseeker’s Allowance or Personal Independence Payment on Christmas Day will be paid on Friday 21 December. Those expecting tax credits or Universal Credit on that day will be paid on Christmas Eve.

Those on benefits expecting their money on New Year’s Day will be paid on New Year’s Eve. This applies for tax credits and Universal Credit, too.

Benefits payment dates, excluding tax credits, falling on the weekend between Christmas and the New Year will be paid on Friday 28 December
