WIGAN health bosses have launched a new cash pot in a bid to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.
Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has officially opened its new grants fund, The Bridge Builder Community Trust Fund.
This has been set up to raise funds to help improve the lifestyles and health of people living in the borough.
Through fund-raising activity and donations, the Trust Fund will provide essential resources to help turn local project ideas into reality.
The Fund is now open to applications from community groups, voluntary and other not-for-profit organisations with charitable objectives based in the region.
For the first round of the programme £1,000 is available for distribution and groups can apply for grants of up to £250.
As the fund grows Bridge Builder will increase the maximum amount available.
Grants will be awarded to projects that will be able to demonstrate an immediate impact.
The organisation hopes to be able to publicise the work of a project and show the benefits of small amounts of funding, which will help attract further donations.
The Bridge Builder Community Trust Fund application process opened on Monday and the closing date for applications is Monday June 1.
