Hundreds of homes and businesses were without electricity after a power cut.

Electricity North West was first called at 4.45am on Monday by customers affected in Leigh.

Around 279 properties were hit by the power cut, mainly in Lord Street and other parts of the town centre.

Engineers went to the area and power was restored to many properties by early afternoon.

But around 30 properties were still without power and work continues to restore their electricity supply.
