Proposed move for village’s post office

A PROPOSAL has been made to move Appley Bridge Post Office from its current location to create a modern open-plan local-style branch with extended opening hours.

Post Office local is a new concept for delivering Post Office services with Post Office products and services available from a till at the retail counter alongside retail transactions during shop opening hours.

The proposed new location for the branch is Costcutter, 272 Miles Lane, Appley Bridge, next door to its current site.

A six-week public consultation is now open for customers and the Post Office is now inviting customers and interested parties to give their comments on the move in a six-week public consultation.

Should the move go ahead, the branch would open from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sunday. This would be 50 hours more than are currently offered.

During the public consultation, Post Office Ltd welcomes feedback on any issues customers would like considered before a final decision is taken on this proposal.
